Development and External Relations Update
The Development and External Relations office UPDATE
is a monthly summary of activities in the section and is published
for your general information. If you have questions, please
contact Jim Goit or call
at (902) 893-7950
- The Open house committee met and decided to move the date for
this years open house to July 29th from the traditional last saturday
in July. This will give the opportunity to a true "open house"
and involve everyone on campus.
- Jim and Tim worked with Theresa to implement the Executive Intranet
site. Minutes of Executive meeting and other administration items
will be placed on-line for the campus community once the have
been approved for release.
- Jim worked with the Leave-a-Legacy committee on this springs
campaign to remind people of the importance of giving through
wills and life insurance. The group of charities will jointly
sponsor a supplement in the newspaper and circulate a brochure.
This is good impacted for the cost to NSAC.
- Jim attended information session on wireless communications
with both Rogers and Aliant during the month. We are working with
IT to develop a workable proposal for wireless calendaring and
e-mail that could be implemented across the institution. There
are continuing issues of security and compatibility with our current
systems and cost is always a factor but we are making progress
and should have a proposal to take to executive soon.
- There were two NFB film screenings on campus this month. The
first was the premier of the film "Animals" and was
very well attended filling Haley 200. The second film, "Crapshoot",
happened a week later on shorter notice and had a much smaller
attendance. Both were promoted through the campus network however
we had more time to promote the first film.
- CFI media event and the NSERC celebration on March 24th were
both well attended and well covered by the media. Team members
played an important part in the success of these event and both
were chronicled on the website.
- Jim prepared a web announcement for the signing of the MOU between
the World Vegetable Centre and NSAC. Follow up newsletter articles
will be written.
- The NSAC was the recipient of a significant bequest for the
Gordon Kinsman Scholarship. We well be highlighting the fund in
future newsletter articles showing the positive effect that planned
giving can have on our endowments.
- Susan worked in conjunction with Brian Crouse and Stuart Gibb
on Recruitment and Marketing issues and strategies for the EMC,
to be incorporated into the Enrollment Management Plan.
- The Department of Business & Social Sciences is working
on preliminary market research regarding the proposed BA, BMgt,
and BTech in Management and Susan worked with their team on the
survey content.
- Susan participated in two EMC meetings and presented the NSAC
Integrated Marketing Communication Plan to the EMC.
- Susan has also been working on compiling, costing and prioritizing
items that will be affected by the name change -- many thanks
to those who have provided input!
- Working in cooperation with Jill Rogers and Raj Lada, Susan
developed a preliminary survey to determine the level of interest
our current students have in a proposed new MSc in International
Agriculture. We are still waiting for more surveys to be returned,
the deadline is April 8th.
- The Centennial Logo Graphic Standard Guidelines and logos are
now posted on the website at: http://www.nsac.ns.ca/marketing/Graphic%20Standards.htm
- Susan met with the Recruitment Team to begin work on new program
information sheets that will incorporate the look and feel of
our other recruitment materials.
- Susan attended a business breakfast to launch CoRDA's 2004-05
Business Plan. It was an excellent event with ample opportunity
for networking and see how NSAC can be more involved in local
initiatives.
