Workshop

The Canadian Society of Agronomy (CSA) is organizing
the 3rd biennial Workshop for agronomy people to meet to exchange
ideas and research results. The meeting will be run as an "at
cost" event covered by registration fees.

NSAC delegation investigates tree fruit research
in Japan
A
team of NSAC researchers has completed investigative travel to Japan
to study the current tree fruit research and development activities
and also to investigate the possibility of developing collaborative
research and academic programs between NSAC and the Japanese tree
fruit research institutes.

NSAC Students Awarded Study Abroad Bursaries
Three NSAC students: Jerome Gonsalves, David Brennan
and James Uhlman, have been awarded travel bursaries for semester
abroad programs. All three student participants in the student exchanges
will attend partner institutions in Norway, Mexico and the United
States.
Funding is provided by Human Resources Development Canada for the
North American Mobility Project and by the University of Life Sciences
in As, Norway.
Alumni Meeting in Florenceville
The NSAC is coming to Florenceville, New Brunswick.
The NSAC Alumni Office would like to have an opportunity
to get together with our alumni in Northern New Brunswick to fill
you in on what is happening at your alma mater. We’d also
like to stay connected with you and hear what is happening in your
lives.
Nick Marchand a member of the NSAC Recruitment team
will be in the Florenceville area on Wednesday, November
23rd , 2005 and would love to get together with you for
an evening of casual conversation and fellowship in the main meeting

Marketing Recruitment Campaign
Goes to the Movies
NSAC is getting in front of thousands of teens and young adults
in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI. Between November
4th and December 1st, movie goers can catch NSAC ads in
the concession area of theatres. As with the rest of the campaign,
target markets are being driven to NSAC's website to see the answer
to an interesting applied science question.
NSAC appears in Progress Research & Discovery Magazine
In Atlantic Canada, world problems are being
tackled by innovative researchers working in partnership with business,
universities and the financial community. These success stories
are featured in the second issue of Progress Research and Discovery.
The October issue of Progress Research & Discovery
features 28 stories about entrepreneurs and scientists from across
the region who have successfully commercialized innovations such as
Green solutions for the environment; innovative Cancer treatments;

NSAC hosts sod-turning for the Atlantic Canadian
Centre for Poultry Research
You are cordially invited to the Nova Scotia Agricultural
College, Wednesday, December 7th, 2005 at 11:30 a.m.for
an official sod-turning for the Atlantic Canadian Centre for Poultry
Research.
The $6.2 million facility will provide research capabilities
in all phases of poultry production from hatching to value-added
product processing.

Strengthening NSAC through Continuing Education
NSAC has taken a step forward in its efforts to serve
the agri-food industry.
The Board of Directors of Eduscience21, a company
newly formed by NSAC, approved a fund-raising strategy and business
plan to help professionals remain at the cutting edge of their professions.
The objective of the new enterprise is to promote customized, online
professional development opportunities to working professionals
in the agri-food industry in partnership with NSAC.

There’s Still Time for This Tax Year
The calendar year 2005 is coming to an end and fund
raising efforts at NSAC are preparing for the change of taxation
years. Contributions made to one of the several NSAC campaigns before
the end of the December can be claimed as a deduction for the 2005
tax year.
