Interview Preparation Sheet

Use the list below as a checklist to help prepare for an interview:

Interview Information
- Date & Time of Interview
- Reporter
- Contact Information
- Media Outlet/Publication

Story Statement
- Have a general introduction to your perspective of the topic at hand.
- Use plain language.
- Keep it short.

Topic
For each topic to be covered, have supporting evidence and incorporate key messages

Wrap Statement
Generally sum up your main points and your perspective. Make it a strong statement and include a "quotable quote."

Consider the medium
- TV is pictures, so consider visuals that enhance your story.
- Wear appropriate clothes (ie., don't wear white or complicated patterns).
- For radio, think about appropriate use of tone of voice/emotion/silence that could support your story.
