NSAC Announces New President

Philip Hicks will be the new president of the Nova Scotia Agricultural
College, Gordon Balser, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries announced
today, April 24.
"The Nova Scotia Agricultural College is the Atlantic region's premiere
agricultural research and educational institution and it is an exciting
time to welcome a new president," said Mr. Balser.
Born in Fredericton, N.B., Dr. Hicks was a professor at the University
of Calgary and the University of North Carolina. In 1996, he joined the
National Research Council (NRC) in Ottawa. His most recent position was
with the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, as a science and technology
counsellor.
"I am tremendously excited about coming to NSAC. I'm looking forward
to working with the university community and promoting a greater internationalisation
in terms of research and student body," said Dr. Hicks.
Dr. Hicks will have an opportunity to meet students and college staff
when he attends the NSAC spring convocation on May 2. Dr. Hicks will start
his position with the school in late summer.
