NSAC Gains New International Partner
NSAC and the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) of India have signed an agreement to develop an articulation program. This program will allow TNAU students to obtain the Bachelor of Technology in Environmental Horticulture degree from NSAC as well as a degree in one of several options from TNAU. The agreement was signed in Coimbatore, India on November 18, 2008 by Professor C. Ramasamy, vice-chancellor of TNAU, and Dr. Dian Patterson, acting associate vice-president academic and dean of internationalization. The first students are expected to come to NSAC in September 2009. Future planning includes post-graduate exchange and joint research, and opportunities for NSAC students to participate in study terms at TNAU. More..

Columnist, Author to Give Talk on Climate Change and Its Repercussions for Agriculture
On Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008 international columnist and author Gwynne Dyer will speak at NSAC. At the talk entitled “The Impact of Climate Change on Organic and Conventional Agriculture,” Dyer will address the implications of climate change for agriculture within a global context of less secure cropping conditions, oil and water shortages and rising food prices.

NSAC Environmental Economics research garners international acclaim
It has only been since spring that Petr Prochazska graduated from the Master of Science program at NSAC, but already his research has drawn the attention of the international academic community. A paper written by Mr. Prochazka and Dr. Stephen Clark of NSAC’s Department of Business and Social Sciences was accepted for presentation to the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) Association Meetings in Gothenburg, Sweden. “The EAERE liked Petr’s submission so much that they offered him funding to attend the conference,” said Dr. Clark. NSAC Graduate Students Receive NSERC ScholarshipsThree NSAC students are the recipients of prestigious graduate scholarships from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). These scholarships are awarded to students pursing a master’s or doctoral degree.
Two students were the recipients of Canada Graduate Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to the most outstanding eligible students pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in any Canadian university.
The scholarship awards will allow the students to continue and expand their work in areas such as researching farm energy conservation and studying innovative methods of waste management. More..
