Earth Day 2009: What will you do?
Wednesday, April 22 is Earth Day. The
entire NSAC campus is encouraged to celebrate by taking
at least one small step to lessen our environmental footprint.
Discuss how you will celebrate with your team or make it
an individual activity. For ideas on what you can do to
celebrate click here.
Once you've decided how you will celebrate, email Sabrina
McGee with the details. There will be a small token
given away to all who participate and eco-friendly merchandise
give aways for the most creative efforts.
Presentation: Sustainability
Efforts at Canadian Universities
The Canadian Association of University Business Officers
(CAUBO) recently held its inaugural sustainability conference
in Toronto and Sarah Morris, NSAC’s Marketing Manager,
attended for NSAC. Sarah has assembled key learnings and
insights from the conference and will share them with campus
on Wednesday, April 29. She will discuss the different models
universities are using to establish sustainability as a
pillar of university practice and a core institutional value.
You’ll also learn the challenges facing every university
in Canada, regardless of how far along they are on their
sustainability agendas. A light lunch will be provided.

Service Update
Jenkins Marketplace will be closing for our last meal on
Friday, April 17th at supper. We will be re-opening the
week of May 4th for regular meal services. The new “Jenkins
Lounge” will also be available during this week for
anyone wishing to purchase a cup of coffee and sit &
relax. All meal hours will be provided as these dates get
closer.
All catering services will be available as always. Everyone
is reminded that 48 hours notice for catered breaks and
luncheons, and two weeks for receptions and banquets.

Interactive Information Session
for Faculty
The MacRae Library will be holding an interactive information
session for faculty on Friday, May 8th from 1:00 - 2:00
p.m. The session is called "Maximize your use of the
MacRae Library." Coffee and treats are provided, bring

NSAC Governance Update Session
NSAC Faculty and Staff are invited to attend a question
and answer session with Paul LeFleche, Deputy Minister.
The session will address questions already submitted, plus
answer any further questions voiced at the session.

NSAC has a growing International Student population. Learn

Public Session: The Role of Community
in Continuing Education
Continuing Education at NSAC is pleased to be hosting the
2009 APACUE Spring Forum on April 23 and 24, 2009. As a
part of the forum, NSAC Faculty and Staff are invited to
attend the keynote address "The Role of Community in
Continuing Education" presented by Wilf Bean on Friday

Bible Hill Kinsman Summer Fun Lotto
The Bible Hill Kinsmen are selling tickets on a hardtop
tent trailer. Second prize is a $1,000 camping package.
Proceeds raised will be used to support local initiatives
like Colchester Food Bank, Truro Boys and Girls Club, Christmas
Index, Kinsmen Bursary and more. For more information on

Scholarship Spotlight
Co-op
Atlantic Awards Presented at NSAC
Various Co-op Atlantic awards were presented at the NSAC
Scholarship Banquet. Mike Oulton, Board Member with Co-op
Atlantic, is shown congratulating William Vosman (far left),
a 3rd year B.Sc.(Agr.) Agricultural Business student from
St. Andrews, NS and Logan Jewell (far right), a 1st year
Diploma in Enterprise Management - Dairy Farming student
from Cornwall, PE. William was the recipient of the 2008
$1,000 Co-op Atlantic Scholarship. Logan Jewell received
a $500 Co-op Atlantic Entrance Bursary for 2008.
Two other students who received $500 bursaries for 2008
but where absent at the time of photo were Alyssa van den
Hof, a 1st year Plant Science Technology student from Milford,
NS and Anne Woodbury, a 1st year Diploma in Enterprise Management
- Companion Animal student from Greenwood, NS.
NSAC students receiving renewed Co-op Atlantic awards included
Krista Brouwer, a 4th year B.Sc.(Agr.) Animal Science student
from Truro, NS who received a $1,000 Co-op Atlantic Scholarship.
Terri-Lynn Waterson, a 2nd year Diploma in Enterprise Management
- Dairy Farming student from Penobsquis, NB, and Tracey
Wilmot, a 2nd year Veterinary Technology student from Hopewell,
NS each receivied a $500 Co-op Atlantic Bursary.
