Hello from your Student Recruitment Team!
As Student Recruitment Coordinator and Manager, I would like to extend a thank you on behalf of Janet, Ashley and myself for your continuing support of the Recruitment Team. Over the past few years, the team saw an incredible momentum build between faculty, staff and our department in efforts to attract new students to NSAC.
As reported, we did see an increase in first year student numbers for 2008 and already this year, a solid number of pending applications for September 2009 and we can officially say that our numbers are 15% higher again this year than last! This is three consecutive years in a row where we are seeing growth, while other post secondary institutions are experiencing decline. This is a direct reflection of the combined actions of all who help us recruit! Thank you!
University Day is always our largest on campus event and we are asking for your assistance again. This year, it will be held on Monday, March 2nd.
University Day is a great opportunity for faculty and staff to meet prospective students and help them make final decisions about their programs or even introduce them to new ones. This day is dedicated to providing future NSAC students with all of the information they need to make informed decisions about their academic and non-academic choices, from classes to clubs and sports. Each year, we see a growing trend of prospective students coming to campus for events, completing their applications here and then making a commitment as soon as we send an acceptance letter.
As we begin this next few months of recruitment activity, I am happy to report that plans for University Day 2009 are moving right along. We've already sent out the posters to every high school in the Maritimes, had on-line registration up and running by Jan 5th, met with our Ambassadors, set up speakers and booked the catering, give away items, radio advertisements and much more! Now, it is time to plan the EXPO!
Our ambassadors have come together to help staff and faculty plan and create their booths. Your ambassadors will be in contact with you and please begin with filling out the planning form that Janet is sending you via email and send back to recruitment via interdepartmental mail, email jwalker@nsac.ca or fax 895-5529.
I look forward to planning this event with you and will be in further contact as the date draws near.
All the best!
Monica
