Stephanie Gillis Shares Her Experiences
From JUCAVM Vet Clinic
Stephanie Gillis is giving a presentation to the pre-vet
club at NSAC about her experiences with the vet clinic at
the Jimma University College of Agriculture and Veterinary
Medicine (JUCAVM). The presentation will take place on Monday
January 26 at 7:00 p.m. in Cox 257. All are welcome to attend.
As a student participation component of the Agricultural
Sustainability Project, a partnership between NSAC and JUCAVM,
Stephanie spent two months at JUCAVM during the summer of
2008.
Teaching Students with Disabilities
Faculty and teaching staff are invited to attend a session
on teaching students with disabilities. Kevin Penny, Coordinator
of University Disability Services will be giving a presentation
on how to help students with disabilities succeed at university.
The session will be held Tuesday, January 27 from
11:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. in Cox room 164. If you

PGI Report Tomorrow
You are invited to attend a presentation by Hein van der
Steen, CEO of Performance Genomics Incorporated (PGI) www.performancegenomics.ca.
The purpose of the event is to advise of current projects
and developments in this Nova Scotia Company associated
with NSAC. PGI is a leading genomics based research company
developing genetic products for use in agricultural species
and humans in the field of fertility, reproduction and reproductive
longevity.

Vacation Carry-Over Requests
Please note that the deadline for submission of vacation
carry-over requests is January 31. All
forms are to be signed by your immediate Supervisor/Department
Head and forwarded to the Vice President Administration
(Suite 217, 2nd Floor, Cumming Hall) for approval and further
processing.
Share How You Care Contest Winners
The winners of the Share How You Care Contest are Michele
Elliot, Emmanuel Yiridoe, and Jolene Reid. Winners where
selected at random from all entries on Thursday, Jan 22
at 3 p.m. Thank you to all who entered. Sustainability issues
are only dealt with when individuals engage in the process.
You've shown you are engaged.
Remember that you can have all of your documents printed
FSC certified at our Print Centre so they meet the standards
of the Forest Stewardship Council.
Open Session with Co-Presidents
Faculty and staff are invited to attend another open session
with the Co-Presidents, Dr. MacLaren and Dr. MacDonald,
on Tuesday, Feburary 24th at 3:00 p.m.
in Haley, Room 200. Topics to be discussed include governance,
the new Senate proposal, and various other campus initiatives.

Well Man's Clinic
Dr. Jamie Johnstone, a medical doctor, in conjunction with
NSAC Health Services staff, is offering a Well Man’s
Clinic for male students February 4, 2009,(please
note change in date) in Health Services, located in the
Dairy Building.
The Well Man’s Clinic is an opportunity to meet with
health care professionals to review and provide the necessary
education so that men have an opportunity to change and/or
enhance healthy living behaviours.

Scholarship Spotlight
Atlantic Farm Mechanization Show Present Scholarships
at NSAC
The
AFMS recently recognized various NSAC students. Presentations
included – The $1,000 Atlantic Farm Mechanization
Show Graduate Scholarship in Engineering was awarded to
Jian Zeng, Zhangzhou, China, an M.Sc.(Agr.) student at NSAC.
Jian also received a Graduate Student Differential Fee Waiver.
The $1,000 Paul Babineau Memorial Scholarships were awarded
to Matthew Lynds, Truro, NS, a 3rd year Engineering Student;
and Jeffery Forbes, Truro, NS, also a 3rd year Engineering
student (absent at the time of photo). Offering congratulations
students is Jim Goit, Executive Director, Development &
External Relations, NSAC.
