Thank You for Honouring World Environment
Day 2009

Thank you to all who honoured World Environment Day on
Friday, June 5. While everyday is a good day to consider
our individual impacts on the environment, World Environment
Day is a good reminder.
Erin MacPherson, Reference Assistant at MacRae Library,
was the randomly drawn winner of an eco-friendly NSAC prize
package for biking to work on Friday. Erin has recently
sold her car and made a commitment to walk or bike to work
everyday. Way to go Erin!
Good Samaritan Found
On May 11th we ran a story about an anonymous good samaritan
who helped a woman that had fallen outside the library while
attending the rug hooker’s convention. We would like
to now recognize Stephanie Peach, a Plant Sciences student.
Stephanie not only helped the woman up, but also went to
the class and helped her gather her things. She then helped
the woman to her car so the woman could get home quickly.
Thank you Stephanie for your kindness, thoughtfulness and
proving one person can make a difference.

Thanks NSAC Science Mentors
An important part of our long-term recruitment strategy
is relationship building with our local, key feeder schools.
A number of our staff and faculty have taken on the role
of Science Mentors to Biology 12 at South Colchester Academy.
“This mentorship has worked very well for my advanced
students as well as those who have done science fair projects
this year,” says teacher Gaye MacDonald, a M.Sc. alumnus.
Thanks to all who have volunteered. A complete list of
who can be viewed here.
