"Canada Now" Magazine Features AgriTECH Park
Canada's inaugural university research parks' magazine features 26 national research parks - our very own AgriTECH Park is first on the list.
The magazine is an initiative of the Association of University Research Parks(AURP) - Canada, and is a tool that provides a common voice and increased awareness for all research parks among many audiences across the country and internationally. AURP Canada's mission is to act as the united voice of Canadian university research parks to build awareness in support of science and technology infrastructure enabling all stakeholders to achieve future growth and sustainability while nurturing the economic prosperity of these knowledge-based communities.
The magazine is being distributed to all academic departments and other units within the university. If you do not receive a copy, please contact Laurie Sandeson (ksandeson@nsac.ca) To learn more, click here.
International Wetland Restoration Project Funded
Dr. Robert France, Associate Professor of Watershed Management in the Engineering Department, is pleased to announce that after a year-long adjudication process, the international research, planning and design team he is affiliated with, which is to be partnered with the National Sun Yat-Sen University of Taiwan, has been successful in obtaining funding for their study and production of the master plan for the Aogu Wetland Forest Park in Chiayi, Taiwan. This 1000-ha site was originally reclaimed from the sea in the 1960s for farming and is now to become the first large-scale coastal wetland restoration project in Taiwan.
Dr. France’s role will be to provide advice on issues related to water management, environmental education, and agricultural history as well as to help plan the long-term research program for the university. France is excited that this project, participated in from conception to construction, will be an important addition to his book-in-progress Regenerative Design of Post-Agricultural Landscapes for Recreation and Environmental Education and will provide a case study of obvious interest to FAFU students who may be enrolled in his courses.
