More Reasons Proving NSAC is the Place to
be!!
At NSAC, we make sure our students receive a
high quality education while having some fun to go with it.
Need to hear more reasons why students choose NSAC after they
graduate? Just read up on what some of our students have to
say about their experiences so far at NSAC!
NSAC
is a very dynamic university, and the campus community is
a nourishing one. I am so pleased with the four
years that I’ve spent here. I have received a high-quality
education, having attained both my Diploma and Degree in Environmental
Horticulture Technology, and I’ve had fun. I suppose
I might say that I’m so pleased, in fact, that I’m
coming back for a fifth year to take some courses I’m
extremely interested in, but couldn’t fit into the first
four years! This is also allowing me to continue my ongoing
extra-curricular activities here at NSAC, including my third
term as Students’ Union President.
There
is certainly something at NSAC for everyone, whether that
be athletics, or other recreational activities,
being involved with clubs and committees of every subject matter,
or just being comfortable in your surroundings. There is such
a variety of people here, and yet the community atmosphere
is also obvious and important. With our beautiful gardens,
great faculty, friendly faces and our knack for fun, NSAC makes
just about everyone feel at home.
My name is Russell Campbell and I am a student
entering my second year at the Nova Scotia Agriculture College.
As a recent graduate from a small, rural school on Prince
Edward Island, I found that the transition from high school
to college was very smooth.
The
other students, young and old, were friendly, which made
for a comfortable environment suitable for both socializing
and
learning. The small class sizes and excellent teacher-student
ratios provided an excellent challenge, but still made it possible
for me to have fun and socialize with many of the friends
I made while living in residence.
Attending NSAC also allowed me to pursue
other interests from High school, such as Rugby, drama, and
Judo. I look
forward
to returning to Nova Scotia Agriculture College in September
My name is Charlotte Reid and I am originally
from Debert, Nova Scotia. I enjoy the outdoors, scrapbooking
and the culinary arts. I strive one day to be a professor in
the field of aquatic science.
As a NSAC graduate, the university has been a catalyst in helping
to make my future plans a distinct possibility. During my time
at the university, I was a strong student who made a great
effort to do well academically. This has helped me to graduate
with
High Honors in May of 2005, with a B.Sc. in Aquaculture. As
well, I am holding an NSERC USRA (Undergraduate Summer Research
Award), working at the college for the summer of 2005. I am
looking forward to beginning my M.Sc. at Mount Allison University
later this summer, working out of St. Andrews Research Station.
The university not only has a wonderful, supportive staff,
but the facilities are amazing. Through my courses, and on-campus
positions, I have been able to achieve hands-on skills that
will be useful in any position that I attain in the future.
Also, I have had many opportunities during my four years to
work on and improve my oral communication and research skills,
which both are essential to my future career plans. Not to
mention, I have made life-long friends that have made my time
here not just enjoyable, but lots of fun too.
Hey!
My name is Emily Fraser, I am in my fourth year animal
science degree and I am from Dartmouth
(and no
I am not from a farm). When I told my friends I was going to
NSAC they thought I was crazy, a school of only 700 in Bible
Hill (the village). Wow am I ever glad I didn't listen to them!
It is hard to explain to people how amazing NSAC
is without them actually experiencing it themselves. This is
a school
with professors that honestly know you by name, and will
sit with
you for hours making sure you understand the information.
As I prepare to write my MCATs in August, I realize what a
great
education I have and how much those small class sizes and
hands on labs payed off.
Aside from the fun I've had with sports
teams, dissections I've done in labs, and crazy nights at
the school pub, what makes NSAC seem so amazing to me is the
way
everyone gets along. This place is the most down to earth
and click-free school around. When you are at NSAC you are
an Aggie
and you belong. At the risk of sounding too corny, I have
to end by saying if you choose to go to NSAC you will love
it
and be calling it home before the snow begins to fall. The
NSAC will change your life, giving you confidence to become
the person you want to be. See you in the fall!!
Hey
everybody! I'm Carley Thomas and i am a 19 year old student
here at the NSAC. I am going into my
3rd year
of the Animal Science degree program and i am thinking of minoring
in plant science just to expand my knowledge and experience.
Alot of people from Truro think they would only come to the
AC for two reason. Either to enter into Pre-Vet or because
they have nothing else that interests them and mom and dad
say you have to go to university. Well...I fitted into both
of those categories on that firstday of school a few years
ago. But I've learned the AC is so much more than that.
There
are so many neat people and lots of things to be involved
in. I play soccer and the girls on the team are some of
my best
friends. Its a small school so i know just about everybody
which is nice because I dont feel lost in the crowd. Also,
the profs all get to know your name and interests by the
end of the year and its not hard to track them down for
extra help.
The work is hard and there is a lot of studying that a
person needs to do in order to be rewarded by good grades
but the
library is only a short walk away. So, I hope this interests
you into staying in Truro..because comeon...living at
home is the cool thing to do.
My
name is Kara McCarthy and I’m
19 years of age. I was born in New Glasgow but then moved to
Stewiacke as a child and then finally to Truro in my teenage
years. I’ve grown up an avid sports player, basketball
being my ultimate favorite but soccer and badminton follow
a close second
The
first year at home Arts program was the right choice because
I could enjoy the
social part of University but when I needed to study I could
go home and avoid all the distractions and I had my family
there to support me through the struggles of first year University.
Plus, I saved a ton of money while getting an excellent education.
